Join Cultured Forest for guided Forest Bathing followed by a hike to a lake in Harriman State Park in NY along the Pine Meadow Trail. Forestbathing is based on a Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku that involves connecting with nature by “Bathing in the Forest Atmosphere”. Studies show time in nature lowers blood pressure, boosts immunity and reduces stress. In this activity, you will indulge with fellow nature lovers in relaxing mindfulness and self-care in a guided outdoor class. Plan to see some of the most natural settings of the park, while learning activities that allow you to better connect with yourself and the outdoors. Leave feeling centered, connected and more at peace. We are excited to end this session with a tea ceremony and snacks.
This will be a hike over some rocks and up and down some steep hills and will cover 9 miles including time over paved roads to the hiking location. We will hike at a slow leisurely pace with plenty of breaks to rest and enjoy nature. There is a restroom at one point at the beginning of the park, but be prepared for infrequent bathroom breaks. Attendees must be 14 years or older.
We will take NJ Transit from Penn Station in NYC to Sloatsburg where we will walk along paved roads for about a mile until we pick up the trail off of Seven Lakes Drive. We will start with Forestbathing nature connection activities for the first part of the day followed with a hike to the lovely Pine Meadow Lake, all along following the Red Trail. The cost is $50 and does NOT include the cost for transit to and from Sloatsburg. This hike is Rain or Shine.
